The Adventures of Mr. Snuggles
In a quaint little house
On a little green hill
lived a lady named Lily
And her husband Bill.
Bill had two daughters
As cute as can be
One with curls in her hair
And scrapes on her knee
She was the oldest (and bravest)
Sissy was always in charge!
She could touch ANY bug,
No matter how large!
Tater was the younger one.
She loved to dance and play.
She was a pretty princess,
who liked to twirl all day.
Sissy and Tater didn’t live
With their dad
but when they were with him
There was lots of fun to be had!
Every weekend was an adventure,
a new thing to see.
Playing games like dress up
or having a nice cup of tea.
Lily was their step-mom
But not wicked like the rest
When it came to step-mom’s
Lily was the best!
One day Lily was
Walking down the street
And too her surprise
she found a special treat
She heard a quiet ‘ruff’
And searched all around
She was so excited about
What she had found
There at her feet
Was a sweet little pup.
She saw big ears and pink spots
And she scooped him right up!
He wagged his tail.
“What, a bundle of joy!”
He licked Lily’s nose
“Oh, what a good boy!”
She took him home
And waited for the girls to see
She knew when they came
They would be so happy!
Sissy and Tater
Loved the dog right away
They called him Mr. Snuggles
And he was here to stay.
They played and played
They had a real blast!
But the fun made time fly
And the weekends ended too fast
When they were gone
Mr. Snuggles was sad.
When they were gone
There was no fun to be had.
He waited and waited
Day after day
There was nothing to do
To pass the time away
He thought long and hard
Then he knew what to do!
While the girls were gone
He’d have an adventure (or two).
Mr. Snuggles thought hard
about where he would go
Should he surf on a wave
or play in the snow?
Then he remembered
Something Tater had said
She had a big dream
That was stuck in her head
She knew of a queen
from a far away land
Who dressed all in lace
with jewels on her hand
So Mr. Snuggles decided
that's the first place he’d go
So he tip-toed outside
So Lily and Bill wouldn't know
He hopped on a bus
Then a train, then a boat
He wondered how
something so big could float?
He asked the Captain
How the boat didn't sink
“How does it float
like ice on a drink.”
“The engine pushes it
across the sea”
It was so fast, Mr. Snuggles
couldn't help but believe
He sat with the Captain
and they talked some more
Then off in the distance
they saw the shore
“There it was,” he thought,
“The land of the queen.”
What could he learn?
What could be seen?
Mr. Snuggles said goodbye
to the Captain and crew
they pointed the way
And off he flew!
The castle was enormous
it reached up so high
It was covered in windows
And a flag flew up in the sky!
Men in big furry hats
stood all around
Mr. Snuggles said, “hi!”
But they made not a sound.
He waved in their faces
and barked at their feet
But they didn't speak
Just stood like concrete
"They are Royal Guards"
Said a lady's sweet voice
Mr. Snuggles turned to her
and couldn't help but rejoice.
There stood the Queen
She was just like Tater said
Dressed all in lace
with a crown on her head
"Why don't they like me?"
Mr. Snuggles asked the Queen.
“Don't worry my dear
they aren't being mean."
"This is their job.
They are all very strong.
So they stand and they watch
Protecting us all day long"
Mr. Snuggles and the Queen
Waved bye to those men
And to his surprise
They waved back at him
They walked through the castle
And talked all day
The Queen was so nice
In her own special way
They talked about the girls
About Lily and Bill
They talked about the quaint little house
On the little green hill
When the day was done
He knew it was time to go
But before he left
She wanted him to know
She told Mr. Snuggles
“You are very special to me
Will I see you again?
What a pleasure it would be!”
“Of course dear Queen!
I’d love to see you again
I like you a lot
Can I call you my friend?”
“Yes, Mr. Snuggles
I also like you!
You’re now an honorary prince
And the girls are princesses too!”
“Oh, Queen thank you!”
He said with a grin
“They will be so happy
When I see them again!”
“Well, Mr. Snuggles
I know you must run
Take a trip on my plane
It is quite fun!”
He rushed home in a flash
As quick as he could
When he got home
There they all stood.
“Oh, Mr. Snuggles
where have you been?”
They had all been worried
About their small friend
He wagged his tale
They all held him tight
Then, they played and played
Long into the night.
